Changing the oil and oil filter on your Hustler zero turn mower at regular intervals ensures the engine is properly lubricated with clean oil during operation. Old oil breaks down and becomes contaminated with dirt particles. If you have a Hustler zero turn with Kawasaki engine, change the oil after the first eight hours and every 100 hours of use after that. Change the oil filter after every 200 hours of use.
1
Turn on the zero turn to warm up the engine. This will allow the oil to drain easier. Turn off the zero turn, remove the ignition key and disconnect the spark plug on the engine. This will prevent the mower from accidentally starting while you change the oil and filter.
2
Remove the dipstick from the oil fill tube to allow air to purge as you drain the oil. Place the oil drain pan next to the engine. Attach the oil drain hose to the oil drain valve nipple. Put the other end of the hose in the oil drain pan to catch the oil.
3
Use a socket wrench to open the drain valve by turning it counterclockwise. The oil will begin to drain out of the engine. Close the valve once the oil has stopped draining. Remove the oil drain hose from the valve nipple.
4
Place the oil drain pan under the oil filter. Take the oil filter wrench and remove the oil filter by turning it counterclockwise. Apply a small amount of oil to the seal on the new oil filter. Install the new oil filter and tighten by hand. Download pdf text stamp for mac.
